The first ship able to take off a plane from its cover marked an important milestone in the history of air navigation.
Fuel limitations prevented its military aircraft maneuver outside the territory of each country so far.
Via e-mail I have sent these photos of the USS Birmingham, A battleship has been considered the first aircraft carrier in history. The aircraft had to be stopped by a new system using ropes and sandbags.
On 14 November 1910 the pilot Eugene Ely was the first pilot to
take off from a ship. But it was not until 18 January 1911 that the same driver with the same plane landed on the USS Pennsylvania which was anchored off the coast of San Francisco.
Some historical photos for aircraft enthusiasts.
