Amino representation

An amino acid, as the name suggests, is an organic molecule with an amino group (-NH2) and a carboxylic group (-COOH; acid). The most frequent and most interesting are those amino acids that make up proteins. Two amino acids are combined in a condensation reaction that releases water to form a peptide bond. These two “waste” aminoacídicos form a dipéptido. If a third amino acid is bound can form a tripeptide, and so, successively, to form a polypeptide. This reaction occurs naturally in ribosomes, both those which are free in the cytosol and endoplasmic reticulum associated…. more Wikipedia

I have mentioned in another post that I have worked on a viewer proteins several years. As part of this software, had to develop a series of icons that represent the building blocks of protein constituents, amino acids.

The graphic orientation of these works is the look you've always wanted to highlight and, in this case, I show the schematic models developed to identify the amino acids found in proteins. Each icon is accompanied by a short name and a link to additional information.

They are sorted alphabetically, not grouped by electro-chemical properties. All share it amino group consisting of carbon atoms(Black) and a nitrogen (blue).

Hydrogen atoms were located by way of “arms” to simplify the model, and make the concept of junctions for possible hydrogen bonds.
