Javier DeFelipe left us engrossed for near 80 minutes with an interesting talk, within the cycle of conferences on innovation that celebrates the BBVA.
I connect this input to keep this magical moment in which a more skilled people currently in this field, has given us some of your time with a masterful oratory.
Javier DeFelipe is Research Professor at the Cajal Institute (CSIC), specializes in studying brain microanatomical. In 1997, involved in the project Neurolab NASA to study the effects of spaceflight on brain development. From 2006 is focused on the study of Alzheimer's disease. In 2009, entered a new phase with the participation in the project Blue Brain, when The Ecole Polytechnique Federale de Lausanne (Switzerland) and IBM jointly announced the project of creating a functional model of the brain using the supercomputer Blue Gene, IBM. In the same year, creates the Cajal Laboratory of Cortical Circuits (CSIC/UPM) at the Center for Biomedical Technology UPM, where Javier DeFelipe leads a research team to develop the Cajal Blue Brain project (Spanish representation in the international Blue Brain).Javier DeFelipe is editor and member of editorial board of several neuroscience journals and has been organizing various conferences and national and international scientific meetings. Among the awards and honors received, highlight the Krieg Cortical Kudos Award (1999), granted by the Cajal Club (U.S.) for his contributions to the study of the structure of the cerebral cortex, Chair and Santiago Ramón y Cajal of the Academy of Sciences of Mexico (2005).
What makes man human? Neuroscientist Javier has raised DeFelipe answers to this complex question about one of the goals of neuroscience: understand the biological mechanisms responsible for human mental activity.(BBVA)
