Blender incorporates the ability to create threaded bolts and nuts in a simple. These joints are complex to model using traditional editing tools, so grateful that they are incorporated into the latest versions of software.
To access these utilities we enter the User Preferences menu and activate the functionality.
File -> User Preferences
Then, menu “Addons” select “Add Mesh” and activate “Bolt Factory“. The nuts and bolts are available on the menu since then.
Add -> Mesh -> Bold
There are many parameters to configure the length, diameter, head size, pitch etc.… to configure different types of screws. We can experiment with these parameters in detail for different models.
For now we are left with an image in wallpaper format, 1280 x 1024, that can be obtained by clicking with the mouse. We have used a Environment Map to be reflected on the material “Glossy“ used for simulation of the metal.
